I'd love to be able to organise sub-sections inside of categories. Ie sub-groups / folder for colors. to organise vectors and bitmaps into sub-groups and folders

Thanks a lot for the feedback!
That's definitely what we have in mind. We are revising our data graph by integrating the upcoming DTCG standard. 
This includes the notion of groups, and we are thinking about how to represent it in a repository. We'll keep you posted!
